There's nothing that indicates why this formula driven film got made except maybe that the poker game was popular on TV at the time. The story of a charming gambler who has lost his way in the game until he meets a woman who teaches him that there's more to life. The only surprising thing is the chemistry of the leads played by Eric Bana and Drew Barrymore in the otherwise contrived film.
