5 Branded Women

Veteran Hollywood director Martin Ritt made this unusual war drama set during WWII. Five Yugoslav women accused to had an affair with a Nazi officer are branded by having their heads shaved and thrown out of their town find a chance to redeem themselves by joining the partisans and fight the enemy. Ritt mixed Hollywood and European styles that blended war, melodrama and exploitation in this effective drama about five different women sharing the same fate during the war.
