GriGris
Chadian writer and director Mahamat-Saleh Haroun returns with another powerful character study. A young man's hopes for a better future are shattered when tragedy strikes which forces him to get involved in illegal activities. Haroun provides a contemporary look of Chad which is rarely seen and makes for a a unique and compelling experience. Souleymane Démé stars as the title character with a solid performance along with equally solid Anaïs Monory and Cyril Guei in the supporting cast. 1001 Films' coverage of the 36th edition of the Mill Valley Film Festival.
