Director Vadim Perelman's sophomore effort fails to fulfill the promise of his smashing debut, the devastating "House of Sand and Fog." The story of a woman who's haunted by a tragedy that cut short the life of her best friend. Perelman could have made a solid film if he could have stayed away from the novel's ending which has a twist ending that derails the film in the last act.
