Writer and director Zachary Heinzerling made his feature debut with this terrific documentary about two unusual artists. The life and love of Noriko and Ushio Shinohara is explored as they left their native Japan to find love and fame in New York with their unusual relationship but unique art. Heinzerling hit a goldmine with the Shinoharas whose personalities and stories gave him plenty of material to choose from which he turned into a charming and unique love story. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
