Writer and director Neil Burger took on his first blockbuster with the first film based on the novels by Veronica Roth. Set in a dystopian world where people are divided by their virtues into five factions, a young woman discovers she's a divergent who won't fit into any of those which sets her on a path of discovery to a conspiracy far behind anything she imagined. Burger assembled a talented cast and sets the tone for the franchise targeting young adults. Shailene Woodley stars as the lead along with Theo James fitting the criteria for this kind of formula films.
