The Searchers
This magnificent masterpiece by John Ford is as personal as it's an epic film with a flawed hero played by no other than John Wayne in one of his best performances. Wayne's bitter and racist angry white man's obsessive search for his kidnapped niece after the Indians killed her family. Ford and Wayne doesn't hide the racism and show the brutality of life in the West. Jeffery Hunter more than holds his own against Wayne as the half-brother of the girl who's the the total opposite of Wayne's character and the heart of the film. Gloriously filmed on actual breath taking locations make this film an absolute classic and one of the best Western films ever. The excellent cast includes Vera Miles and Natalie Wood.
