Fort Saganne
Veteran French writer and director Alain Corneau has all the right ingredients for an sweeping epic but fails to deliver, mostly due to the weak script. The story a soldier from humble roots who's sent to serve in the foreign legion in the Sahara before the WWI where he climbs up the rank while falling for two beautiful women. The all star cast includes Gérard Depardieu, Philippe Noiret, Sophie Marceau and Catherine Deneuve. What could have been a great classic is only mediocre drama. YRCinema's coverage of films on DVD.
