Red Riding Hook
Director Catherine Hardwicke turned her attention to fables for her latest effort. The familiar children story gets the teenage treatment where the big bad wolf is closer to home. There's a great potential on the twist provided by writer David Johnson which gets lost in the hands of Hardwicke who seems to be more concerned on the teenage angle which derails the film. The solid cast can't save the film because of the misguided direction that includes production design and cinematography. Neil Jordan's "The Company of Wolves" remains the best adaptation on the classic fable. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
