Veteran French writer and director André Téchiné brought the early days of AIDS to the screen with this drama. After an happy summer in 1984, a group of friends find their happiness shattered when a mysterious disease appears which changes their lives forever. The film fails to live up to Téchiné's best work. However the script is the weakest link despite the noble intentions of the talents involved. The accuracy of the era is also questionable, at least it the timeline depicted. The talented cast includes Michel Blanc, Emmanuelle Béart and Sami Bouajila amongst others. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
