Writer and producer Alex Kurtzman made his debut as a director with this uneven drama. After the death of his estranged father, a young man discovers of a half sister with whom he begins to learn the meaning of family. Kurtzman went the opposite way with his directing debut to show the messy side of family life where things are not as easy as usual in most Hollywood movies. He also stays away from the formula romances which is another interesting aspect of this film. Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks star as the siblings instead of lovers with solid performances along with the support of Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Hall D'Addario and Olivia Wilde. 1001 Films coverage of films on DVD.
