Danish director Susanne Bier returned home and top form after a brief detour to Hollywood with this terrific drama about fathers and sons. The path of two families cross each other when their teenage sons develop a friendship with dangerous consequences that leads their fathers to question their priorities and roles as parents. Utterly original and heartbreaking, Bier created a complex world with real problems and characters while examining the roles of manhood between the primitive and modern world.
