British comedian, writer and director Richard Ayoade made his feature debut with this coming of age comedy. A British teenager struggling with school and sexual awakening finds out his mother might leave his father for a new-age evangelist that ruins his plans to woo a schoolmate. Ayoade has keen eye for quirky characters and striking visuals but it works to his advantage since the material itself is nothing new. His style over substance approach makes this comedy enjoyable with its over its eccentric characters.
