J Edgar
Clint Eastwood returns with another powerful film as a director, producer and composer about one of the most powerful and controversial figures in American history. The live of J Edgar Hoover is explored through the three people he trusted while establishing the FBI through unconventional means. It's a fascinating character study about a scrupulous man whose towering contribution to the FBI is overshadowed by his deplorable methods. Eastwood and writer Dustin Lance Black's ambitious attempt is saved by Leonardo DiCaprio's riveting performance. The stellar supporting cast includes Judi Dench, Naomi Watts and Armie Hammer as the mother, secretary and friend/lover with solid performances. 1001 Films' coverage of current releases.
