The Girl from Monaco
French writer and director Anne Fontaine delivered another sophisticated film with this nuanced drama about the battle of the sexes. An uptight Parisian lawyer falls in love with a beautiful and carefree girl in Monaco which could derail his high profile case despite the warnings of his loyal bodyguard. Fontaine's keen eye for complex characters in both her writing and direction proves any conventional scenario can be taken to new heights. The terrific cast includes Fabrice Luchini, Roschdy Zem and the stunning Louise Bourgoin in her debut. The supporting cast includes a welcome appearance by the legendary Stéphane Audran. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
