How to Survive a Plague
Director David France made his feature debut with this powerful documentary. Two grass root movements ACT UP and TAG (Treatment Action Group) who stepped in during the early days of the AIDS epidemic to find a treatment while the government was absent. It's a shocking history how the Reagen and Bush Sr administration ignored the epidemic and caused the virus to widespread without funding any effort to find a cure or treatment. The film shows the hero of the movement who fought and succeeded to turn AIDS from death sentence to a manageable condition. Using archival footage and interviews France chronicles the group's evolution. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
