The Blue Angel
Legendary Austrian-American writer and director Josef von Sternberg made his German debut with this classic which marked his first collaboration with Marlene Dietrich in her screen debut. While trying to save his students from straying into the wrong path, an elderly professor falls in love with a beautiful night club singer which causes his downward spiral into ruin and humiliation. Based on the novel by Heinrich Mann, von Sternberg delivered a classic morality tale which remains his definitive masterpiece.
