Ender's Game
South African writer and director Gavin Hood was enlisted to adapt the novel by Orson Scott Card. After an alien race almost destroyed the planet, the search for a leader to fight them leads to a young boy who has to go through a rigorous process to prove he's the one. While novel might have its appeal to teenagers, the adaptation comes to late because it doesn't feel new or original. Hood has assembled a talented and impressive ensemble but the film feels like watching a video game. Asa Butterfield is perfectly cast in the lead with an stellar supporting cast that includes Harrison Ford, Viola Davis, Ben Kingsley and Abigail Breslin. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
