Viva Algeria

French-Algerian writer and director Nadir Moknèche addresses the struggle of three women in Algeria where their modern life style conflicts with the Islamic tradition. An elderly dancer and her daughter who has an affair with a married man have a difficult time to adapt to the conservative society that seems to threaten their livelihood. Moknèche addresses an issue that concerns many moderate Arab countries where Islamic fundamentalism is on the rise.
