Kick-Ass 2

Writer and director Jeff Wadlow took over the sequel for his third feature and delivered another terrific film. The teenagers who became real life superheros experience the consequences of their actions which has wide ranging effects on their lives and those around them. Wadlow delivers more of the same that the original established but fails to reach the right balance of tone that made the first film remarkable. The film has its moments but goes more than often overboard which threatens to derail everything it has been building upon. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chloë Grace Moretz return with solid performances along with Christopher Mintz-Plasse. The supporting cast includes Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo and an unrecognizable Jim Carrey who's outstanding. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
