Das Boot
German director Wolfgang Petersen's masterpiece is also one of the best films of the 80's. The story of a German U-boat during the World War II shows the soldiers like any as they fight to survive the treacherous waters far from home and the enemy close yet so far. Petersen shows with great skill the human side of war without the ideologies that proves war is hell regardless where you stand. The stellar cast is lead by Jürgen Prochnow along with groundbreaking cinematography and a classic score that makes the film one of the best of German cinema. YRCinema's coverage of films on DVD.
