French writer and director Louis Malle made this controversial coming of age film in 1971 about a bourgeois family in 1950's Dijon. A young boy's sexual awakening in a family of three boys to a physician father and Italian mother. Malle masterfully tackles shocking taboos seem more natural and innocent, specially sexuality which the French are well known for. Candid and effective performances make this comedy very human.
