We Are What We Are
Mexican writer and director Jorge Michel Grau made his feature debut with this original psychological thriller about a cannibalistic family. When the patriarch of a family passes away, it's up to the two teenage sons to continue the sinister tradition with the support of their sister and mother which proves more a challenge than they thought. Grau blends social commentary and horror elements into a seamless but layered genre film that marked the arrival of a promising talent. Francisco Barreiro and Alan Chávez star along with Paulina Gaitan and Carmen Beato with strong performances. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
