Synecdoche, New York

Charlie Kaufman directs his most ambitious and darkest script for his debut that features some of the best actors including Philip Seymour Hoffman, Michelle Williams, Samantha Morton, Emily Watson and Dianne Wiest amongst others. The film touches on grand issues of life such as love, loss, death and others that make the film heavier and the humor has a hard time to shine through. The film has all the ingredients that his other scripts and films had. The fact that he's a bold writer and now director makes this film a success, however less accessible.
