Waltz with Bashir

The cinema of Israel continues to impress with this powerful Animated documentary by Ari Folman. It's also a brave film about the 1980 Sabra and Shantila massacre in Lebanon remembered by some of the soldiers who were involved and are still haunted. Animation continues to prove that it's a great medium least explored and can do wonders beyond live action. This film would have been just a talking heads if it were done traditionally. Creative animation and music takes the viewers to one of the most cruel massacres in the history of Israeli and Palestinian conflict. YRCinema's coverage of the Cannes Film Festival.
