Whip It

Drew Barrymore makes her feature directing debut with this coming of age drama/comedy which she also produced and stars in. The story of girl in a small town who finds her love and herself in an all girl roller derby team. Barrymore and her talented cast overcome the predictable formula and save what could have been a disaster in wrong hands. Instead they deliver a charming film with a lot of girl power which is a rare feat. Ellen Page stars along with Marcia Gay Harden, Daniel Stern and Juliette Lewis.
