Dolores Claiborne

Versatile and prolific director Taylor Hackford made this terrific drama based on the novel by Stephen King. A young woman with a traumatic past returns home after a long absence when her mother is accused of murder which opens old wounds. Hackford and writer Tony Gilroy keep the drama and suspense going till its satisfying end. Kathy Bates and Jennifer Jason Leigh deliver outstanding performances as the tormented mother and daughter at the center of the story. The solid supporting cast includes Christopher Plummer, David Strathairn, Judy Parfitt and John C. Reilly. YRCinema's coverage of films on DVD.
