Orphan

Spanish director Jaume Collet-Serra delivers in this effective horror thriller. After a traumatic loss, a family adopts a young orphan girl with a troubled past with devastating consequences. Logic aside, the film works because of the cast. Collet-Serra scored to have terrific actors like Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard in the leads who deliver. The child actors are equally gifted which heightens the tension to almost unbearable. The film could have been better if it wasn't too much into cheap thrills and a ludicrous ending.
