A Dangerous Method

Canadian director David Cronenberg returns with another splendid drama about the fathers of psychoanalysis. The friendship and rivalry between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud is examined through their relationship with a Russian patient, Sabina Spielrein who liberated Jung from Freud's spell that almost ended his career. Based on the novel by John Kerr and brilliantly adapted by Christopher Hampton, Cronenberg and his talented cast and crew deliver an intelligent film about compelling characters at the beginning of a modern era. Michael Fassbender, Viggo Mortensen and Keira Knightley star with Sarah Gadon and Vincent Cassel in the supporting roles. 1001 Films' coverage of current releases.
