British director Jon Amiel gives legendary naturalist Charles Darwin his due with this moving film. The film focuses on the years before the release of his book "The Origin of Species" that changed the world, maybe the second book since the Gutenberg Bible. Darwin well aware of the consequences of his theory was struggling with the publishing of the book due to the loss of his beloved child and the opposition of his religious wife. Amiel makes a solid film that was overdue and finds the right angle to tackle it.
