Otto Preminger's classic film noir is a fascinating thriller which plays a psychological game with the viewer. The story about a detective who falls in love for a woman whose murder he's investigating. Preminger gets away with murder literally with this film which falls apart in its individual parts such as story, characters and acting but works surprising well altogether. The film features one of the most unique and unusual introductions of lovers in cinema that has to be seen to be believed which might be the secret to its status. The dashing Dana Andrews and ravishing Gene Tierney are perfectly cast for their looks more than anything. YRCinema's coverage of films on DVD.
