In the Land of Blood and Honey
Humanitarian and actress Angelina Jolie makes her writing and directing debut with this riveting tale of love and betrayal set during the Bosnian War between 1992-95. After the breakout of the war, two lovers, a Bosnian woman and a Serb man, find themselves conflicted and their royalties tested as the atrocities of war escalate. Jolie found the medium where the two sides of her life can meet and prosper with this unflinching look at one of the most horrendous wars in recent memory that happened in Europe, right when Steven Spielberg's "Schindler's List" was being celebrated around the world which this film reminds of ironically. It's a shocking film as it should be that Jolie and her talented cast and crew show a glimpse of it to remind that it could happen again. The talented cast includes Zana Marjanovic (Snow), Rade Serbedzija (The Saint, Before the Rain, Fugitive Pieces) and Goran Kostic (Taken) amongst others. 1001 Films' coverage of current releases.
