Trilogy 3: After the Life
Belgian writer and director Lucas Belvaux concluded his trilogy with this melodrama. In the third and best film, the relationship between the cop and his drug addicted wife is further explored who appeared in all three films. While the first two films can be viewed in any order, this film ties the three films together. Belvaux wrote the most complex and nuanced of the three couples that makes for a fascinating drama where a drug addicted school teacher whose police husband provides her with the drugs she needs is something you don't see often on screen. Thanks to the powerful performances by Dominique Blanc and Gilbert Melki, they make the story credible that seems to be more real than fiction. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
