The Crook

French writer and director Claude Lelouch reunited with Jean-Louis Trintignant for his first crime thriller. The rise and fall of a smart crook as he plans to seek revenge and outsmart the cops. Lelouch succeeds with the inventive and non-linear approach that adds suspense to a familiar story.  The film is dated but holds up due to the time capsule aspect of an bygone era.
