The Snowtown Murders

Australian director Justin Kurzel and writer Shaun Grant made their feature debut with this gritty and unflinching film about Australia's worst serial killer. A teenager falls under the spell of his mother's new boyfriend which takes him on a nightmarish journey of torture and murders. Kurzel and Grant take no prisoners with this nightmare of a film which is hard to watch most of the time which is how it should be. Daniel Henshall gives a terrifying performance as John Bunting while Lucas Pittaway holds his own as the teenager and forced accomplice. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
