Foxcatcher

Director Bennett Miller's third feature takes him back to the sports world with this drama based on a true story as his previous films. The story of two brothers, both wrestling champions who are pursued by an eccentric billionaire to join his team which ends in tragedy. Miller reunites with Dan Futterman who also wrote his debut "Capote" which this film has more in common than his previous film which is a riveting triptych character study. Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo star as the brothers with terrific performance but the film belongs to an unrecognizable Steve Carrell who disappears in the role of creepy John Du Pont with a riveting performance. The solid supporting cast includes Vanessa Redgrave and Sienna Miller amongst others. 1001 Films' coverage of the 67th Festival de Cannes.
