Mommy
Canadian wunderkind Xavier Dolan returns with his fifth feature which marks a return to a familiar theme explored in his debut. A single mother has trouble raising her troubled teenage son which is further tested when their neighbor inserts herself into their relationship with unexpected consequences. Dolan balances style and substance to explore the mother and son bond with its ups and downs. Filmed with unusual aspect ratio of 1:1 which enhances the drama along with stylized look and soundtrack that has become a signature to Dolan's work. Antoine-Olivier Pilon stars with his first leading role along with Anne Dorval and Suzanne Clément, both delivering terrific performances continuing their collaboration with Dolan. 1001 Films' coverage of the 67th Festival de Cannes.
