Morgen

Romanian writer and director Marian Crisan makes his feature debut with this bleak drama infused with dark humor. A security guard who lives a somewhat comfortable life at a border town between Romania and Hungary finds his humanity by helping an illegal Turkish immigrant in an act of rebellion against the authorities and his nagging wife. Crisan's vision of the region is as bleak as already in the films by his contemporaries as well as their ability find humor in it. The two men bond and able communicate despite a language barrier that's at the core of the film. The title refers to the only German word meaning "tomorrow" the Romanian knows to communicate with the Turkish man who's on long journey to Germany for a better future.
