Last Train Home

Chinese director Lixin Fan made his feature debut with this powerful documentary. Over 100 million Chinese travel 1000 miles or more home yearly to visit their homes once a year causing the largest human migration on earth. Most of them abandoning their children with their parents in order to work in the distant cities. The film focuses on one couple who travel home to see their two children. It's a heartbreaking film that focuses on the byproduct of China's rise as a world power which provides some great content for the Chinese cinema in both fiction and nonfiction areas. Fan made an extraordinary film that's powerful as it is relevant. 1001 Film's coverage of films on DVD.
