Directors Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky returned to West Memphis, Arkansas in 1999 to follow up on the case in this second part of the trilogy. The teenagers in prison still deny any involvement in the crimes but the justice system denies them a retrial despite new evidence. The first film created outrage around the world which allowed the teenagers to find a support group to help them fight the injustice which is heartbreaking watching the innocent imprisoned while the real killer on the loose.
