Ridicule

French director Patrice Leconte delivered a dazzling film with this period drama set before the French Revolution. A country nobleman goes to Paris to seek the help of the king, only to find a corrupt court where he only can use his wit to get the attention that will enable him to reach his goal with unexpected consequences. Leconte created an excellent period drama with all its lavish details set in a crucial period of French history shortly before it changed forever. Charles Berling stars with a terrific performance along a stellar supporting cast that includes Fanny Ardant, Jean Rochefort, Judith Godrèche, Bernard Giraudeau and Albert Delpy. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
