An impoverished woman forced to abandon her lover for a life of privilege sees an opportunity to solve her dilemma when she meets a wealthy but sick American heiress which has unexpected consequences. Softley and writer Hossein Amini captured the timeless themes of love, passion and greed in this lavish and captivating film. Helena Bonham Carter stars and delivered her best performance along with equally superb supporting cast that includes Linus Roache, Alison Elliott, Charlotte Rampling, Elizabeth McGovern and Michael Gambon. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
