I Am Cuba
Russian director Mikhail Kalatozov delivered another stunning film with this lost masterpiece. The story of Cuba before the Revolution where the decadence of the rich leads to the exploitation of the poor. Conceived as an anti-American propaganda film for Castro's Cuba before it was buried in the archives for several decades until it was discovered by Americans in an ironic twist. The dazzling cinematography by Sergei Urusevsky is one of the greatest ever captured on film. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
