Dirty Money
French master Jean-Pierre Melville disappoints in his last film after delivering three masterpieces back to back. He seems tired and cynical of the world of crime that inspired him in his illustrious career. He reunites again with Alain Delon who plays a weary cop who has the tedious job of capturing criminals that involves a friend whose girlfriend he's in love with. A somber film in many ways that lacks the energy or excitement of Melville's earlier films. Catherine Deneuve is well cast but wasted in a supporting role. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
