Pan Tadeusz
Legendary Polish writer and director Andrzej Wajda took on the epic poem by Adam Mickiewicz in this lavish adaptation. During the Russian and Lithuanian occupation of Poland, two feuding families attempt to reconcile through marriage is threatened by the news of Napoleon's arrival which gives hope to one family for independence while the other is loyal to Russia. The intricate historical context makes difficult for outsiders but Wajda's focus is for the Polish audience trying to connect them to their past. Beautifully filmed with a talented cast and crew. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
