The General

Buster Keaton at his best in this silent classic set during the civil war. Keaton wrote, directed and stars a man in love with his locomotive and the girl of his dreams. However his fiancee expects him to enlist in the war which he tries but is refused since he's needed to to run the locomotive which causes his love and in-laws to suspect him as a coward. When the Union spies steals his beloved machine and his girl, he sets out to liberate them both. Beautifully written, filmed and acting makes this classic timeless.
