Somers Town

British director Shane Meadows follow up to his smashing "This Is England" fails giving the high expectations but the film itself has modest goals which it pulls off nicely. The story about a friendship between two lonely boys from totally different backgrounds, one a homeless British boy, the other a Polish boy who has a hard time adjusting in the strange land. The film reunites Meadows with Thomas Turgoose, the star of his previous film which forces Meadows to focus on the boys too much, while neglect the most interesting character in the film which is the struggling father of the Polish boy who as the single father has bigger problems to juggle with. The biggest problem with the film is the happy ending which feels forced and convenient. YRCinema's coverage of films on DVD.
