The Avengers

Director Joss Whedon's second feature unites several superheros trying to save the earth. Several superheros including Iron Man, the Hulk, Captain America and Thor amongst others are called upon to save the earth. Whedon's winning formula builds on the success of several blockbusters that established the superheros in their own rights along with most of the actors including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson who reprise their roles. The new additions are Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner who excel in their roles as do the most of the cast. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
