The Crook

French writer and director Claude Lelouch reunited with Jean-Louis Trintignant for his first crime thriller. The rise and fall of a smart crook as he plans to seek revenge and outsmart the cops. Lelouch succeeds with the inventive and non-linear approach that adds suspense to a familiar story.  The film is dated but holds up due to the time capsule aspect of an bygone era. Francis Lai's score adds the third element to the Lelouch and Trintignant reunion.  1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
