The Conquest

French writer and director Xavier Durringer made this political farce about for French president, Nicolas Sarkozy's rise to power. A cunning and vicious Sarkozy fights his way and odds to become the president while losing his wife in the process. While Durringer made a fictional film, many of the scenes and events were taken from the headlines which he then recreated which makes for an interesting film. Denis Podalydès stars with a solid performance along with Florence Pernel as Cécilia Sarkozy, Bernard Le Coq as Jacques Chirac.
